Remember how last week, I sent you that blog post about fears? I showed you how we all have code words for fear -- like "I don't have enough time"?

What I love about that page is how BRUTALLY HONEST people are about their own fears. You would almost never hear someone saying those things in real life.
And in real life, almost nobody calls us out on our fears.
For example, a few weeks ago, I got this comment on my blog.
"I want to come up with a freelance business that gives me enough time to finish the web application I've been working on." - Efan
My response:
Just a quick Q -- this is what I wrote about for ALL of 2010: How to earn more via freelancing. I even launched an end-to-end course that shows you exactly how. What stopped you from taking action?
His rejoinder:
Wussing out and making excuses. I've committed to it now. If earn1k opens back up, I'll be signed up as soon as I can move the money into the correct account to pay for it.
I got inside his head a little more and asked, "And what specifically went through your head when you decided not to join?"
"There were a lot of "can I really afford this" questions in my head. I signed up for the pre-launch emails a couple of times, and they were always interesting, but there was never any one "wow" piece of advice or technique that pushed me over the top to sign up for the full course. Looking back at it, I spent more on a new lens for my camera than I would have on your course, so I realized I was being stupid not doing business with someone whose free advice I value as much as I do."
The only way out? Taking action. You probably noticed that I strategically gave you a week of free content packed with tactics to start finding a profitable idea before I opened up Earn1K.
Many of you took action to narrow your niche, define your target market, and get inside their heads.
My question to you:
Once my emails stop next week, what specific action steps are you going to take? Do you have a clear plan in place to earn more money in the next 8 weeks?
Who are you emailing tomorrow? What are you going to say? How will you find your first 3 clients?
Or will your enthusiasm simply fall to wayside like other times?
Be brutally honest with yourself. When you've had opportunities and enthusiasm, did you follow through with them?
Tactics are always so appealing to help you get started and that's good, that's where people start but "How do I know what I'm doing is right?"
But the #1 question I got all day yesterday is:
"Ramit I can't find an idea, I can't even dream of having an idea, I have no skills"
For example:
"The sample info you've shared for the rest of the course topics are obviously top-notch quality, and I trust you there. They won't do me damn bit of good if I can't find an idea, though, and I've seen no proof of Earn1k's ability to help me in that area other than the testimonials (and frankly, I don't trust testimonials unless I hear them straight from the horse's mouth)." - OZ
And that's why I specifically went deeper into ideas in Earn1K 2.0 with hours of new video, scripts, and audio teardowns so you can see the mistakes and the successes of real Earn1K students and find that one profitable idea to focus on.

Now, last week I asked you to share ONE specific way you've changed your thinking about earning money, just from the free material. Here's one of the comments:
"85% is good enough, so long as it rests on careful thinking. And even better, I don't have to do the careful thinking. I just have to listen to Ramit.
Money automated? Check. Cards negotiated? Check. Freelance income? In the works." -- Alex F.
Alex is very smart... and not just because he said, "I just have to listen to Ramit."
And that's where the 85% solution comes in
In the last 6 months, I have friends that have said these EXACT phrases:

"I can't start investing...I'd have to learn EVERYTHING before I get started so I don't make stupid mistakes"

"I can't start learning a new language...I would look like a fool"
-
"I can't start training for a marathon...I don't know where to start"
This is, of course, nonsense.
Can you imagine a 5-year old saying something like this about riding a bike? HELL no. They would never think about needing to be perfect before they started something. They smash bananas on their face for fun. Dumb kids.
You don't have to be perfect to get started. Ironically, the people who wait to get 100% of the way there...usually accomplish 0% of anything.
By focusing on getting only 85% of the way there -- then getting on with your life -- you can start getting healthier, investing, earning money, or whatever it is.
You don't NEED an idea to join Earn1k
This is actually the #1 email I've been getting:
"The course sounds great, but it sounds like everyone already knows what they want to do. I don't even have an idea."
2 things to know:

Back to my weirdo friends
It's so easy to become stagnant and stick to your existing skills, without ever challenging yourself.
But it's so important to learn HOW TO THINK about new skills -- including more money on the side.
If you know you deserve to earn more money, you need to take steps to accomplish it. Whether it's this course, another course, or asking for a raise at work, what are you going to do this year?
You have to decide what solution is right for you....
